The bridge will be closed during construction and there will be a 14 mile detour.
Cut Bank Rd./Cherry Hill Rd. (Rt. 609) north: Take Windmill Rd. (Rt. 631) west to Old Stage Rd. (Rt. 712) north to I-85 north to Exit 42 to McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) east to Rainey Creek Rd. (Rt. 654) south to Cutbank Rd. (Rt. 687) south back to Cherry Hill Rd.
Cherry Hill Rd./Cut Bank Rd. (Rt. 609) south: Take Cutbank Rd. (Rt. 687) north to Rainey Creek Rd. (Rt. 654) north to McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) west to I-85 south to Exit 39 to Old Stage Rd. (Rt. 712) south to Windmill Rd. (Rt. 631) east back to Cut Bank Rd.
The project will replace the 85-year-old bridge on Cut Bank Road (Route 609) over the Nottoway River at the Brunswick/Dinwiddie county line.
Construction will widen the one-lane bridge from 13 feet to 16 feet and include a 12 foot travel lane to carry traffic in both directions.
