About the Study
This study, in collaboration with Prince William County, assessed potential safety enhancements for drivers and pedestrians along two miles of Rollins Ford Road between Vint Hill Road (Route 215) and Linton Hall Road (Route 619).
Currently, this segment of Rollins Ford Road has six unsignalized pedestrian crossings. The corridor has seen an increase in crashes since the segment was completed in 2014.
The concepts studied included:
- Additional pedestrian signage and curb extensions at existing crosswalks
- Partial lane reduction
- Innovative Intersection Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT)
- Innovative Intersection Single Lane Roundabout
Public feedback favored the RCUT and roundabout concepts over the additional signage/curb extension and partial lane reduction concepts. The study findings and public input will guide future planning for Rollins Ford Road as funding becomes available and projects are prioritized.
