Mohammad Mirshahi, P.E.

Deputy Chief Engineer


Mohammad Mirshahi, P.E. is the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Virginia Department of Transportation. In this role, he provides administrative and technical leadership to the Engineering directorate from VDOT’s Central Office in Richmond. Mirshahi, a 21-year veteran of VDOT, directs activities in Roadway Design, Structural and Bridge, Materials, Traffic Engineering, Construction, Maintenance and Operations.

Mirshahi has 30 years of progressive experience designing and managing highway projects in both public and private sectors.  He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Traffic and Transportation Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, Texas and New York. Mirshahi lives in Henrico County with his family.
